The Human Perspective
The world is not being destroyed. It is not going anywhere. Many deep minds contend that evolution has stalled with humanity. I’m not going to touch on that because to be honest, most of you don’t give a shit.
However, I will acknowledge that the planet is changing. For the better or for the worse is of course entirely relevant to your perspective across varied spatial, temporal, and dogmatic resource landscapes. If you happen to be a human being interested in maximizing your ultimate contribution to the gene-pool (i.e. wishing to be the next great Khan) you’re screwed.
Humanity’s most influential accomplishment will be promoting the shift of our global habitat to one that destroys our notions of privilege and rights - and take special note, these are humanity’s alone. They are not synonymous with the earth, merely of it. Deny that it isn’t so or that we’re just not sure. Really, it’s easy. Pretending separates us from the animals. -kerb
Or instead, focus on strangling others less illuminated by faith with moral codifications that ease your tormented consciousness (no matter how dimly it glows). Despotism stokes the human condition. Or again, pretend otherwise. I assure you that you can find worth there and die with only a satchel of doubts instead of your rightfully alotted share. I read it in a book.
I’m just asking you to consider this one Truth: something will inevitably survive, so don’t become to depressed when you take your first breath. -kerb
